Sandro Silva
Sandro Silva is a Brazilian-Canadian filmmaker and the co-founder of Dona Ana Films & Multimedia. He was a local producer for many international productions in his home country of Brazil, including for projects surrounding the 2014 FIFA World Cup and Rio 2016. He has produced award-winning documentaries, including 3 Siblings (2018). After moving to Canada, Sandro wrote, directed, and produced various documentary shorts for CBC's Creator Network. He was selected protégé for the 2021 Own Voices Alberta designed by the Alexandra Writers' Centre Society in partnership with the Writers’ Guild of Alberta. He was part of the 2021 Hot Docs DOC Accelerator program, and he was selected for the 2023 Hot Docs Podcast Creators Lab. Sandro received a production grant as part of the Telus STORYHIVE 2021 Black Creators Edition, where he wrote, directed, and produced his latest documentary short Retraining the Brain (2023). Sandro is working on a memoir and has several podcasts and feature documentary projects in production. Before working in the arts, Sandro worked as a copyright lawyer in São Paulo.
