Catalina Morales Velez is a fiction and creative nonfiction writer who lives and works in Edmonton, Alberta. A native of Colombia, she depicts in her work magical elements with realistic settings, creating metaphors for the challenges she explores—such as the immigrant experience and the struggles faced by women.
Fueled by a childhood love for stories, she turned that passion into a career. Her bachelor's degree in communications from North Catholic University (Universidad Catolica del Norte) provided the foundation. She further honed her skills with diplomas in Marketing and Advertising from Colombian institutions (University Institution Esumer and Arts Institute), all while deepening her understanding of communication in urban settings with a graduate diploma from UPB (Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana).
Catalina’s work has been featured in magazines in Colombia, Canada, and the U.S., including Entrepreneur, Life As A Human, The Polyglot, and Revista Cronopio.
